Tottenham plan to reignite interest in £43m star to address key weakness

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with a move for the Napoli defender Kim Min-jae.

A report from Football Insider claims that the Premier League side are planning to reignite their interest in the 26-year-old South Korean international at the end of the season.

It is no surprise that Tottenham will have to improve their defensive options and they have been linked with a number of players in recent months. Cristian Romero is the only reliable centre-back at the club right now and the Londoners must look to bring in a quality partner for him.

The defence has been a major concern for Tottenham this season with players like Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier and Clement Lenglet putting in underwhelming displays.

The South Korean international has been a key player for Napoli since joining the club and he has helped them reach the top of the Italian league table this season and the quarter-finals of the Champions league.

The 26-year-old is undoubtedly one of the most promising defenders in Europe this season and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for Tottenham. The London club will be hoping to challenge for major trophies next year and they need to tighten up at the back in order for that to happen.

Kim Min-jae has a release clause of around £43 million in his contract and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham are prepared to trigger it in the summer. The reported asking price could prove to be a reasonable outlay if the 26-year-old manages to adapt to English football quickly.

The South Korean certainly has the physical and technical attributes to thrive in the Premier League and he could be the ideal partner for Romero at the heart of Tottenham’s defence.
