Tottenham ‘ones to watch’ for 26-year-old, they could activate star’s release clause

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Napoli defender Kim Min-Jae.

The 26-year-old has made quite an impression since his move to Napoli and his performances have caught the attention of a number of Premier League clubs.

Earlier, a report from Daily Mail claimed that Tottenham are one of the clubs interested in activating the defender’s release clause at the end of the season.

Apparently, the player has a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave the Italian club for a fee of €45 million in the summer.

Now journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed to CaughtOffside that Tottenham are the ones to watch as far as the 26-year-old’s future is concerned.

Jacobs said: “My understanding is that Tottenham and Liverpool are ones to watch. Remember, Kim is 26 so won’t want to move to any top European club as only a squad player.”

The South Korean international has established himself as one of the most reliable defenders in Europe, and he could prove to be an exceptional signing for Tottenham.

The North London club have been vulnerable at the back, and they need to bring in a quality partner for Cristian Romero.

The 26-year-old could be a solid acquisition, and Tottenham will hope that his compatriot Son Heung-Min can help get the transfer across the line.

The opportunity to reunite with Son at the club level and showcase his qualities in the Premier League could be an attractive proposition for the defender and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.

The reported release clause is quite reasonable for a player of his quality and Tottenham should look to do everything in their power to secure his services.
