The report from the Telegraph claims that Tottenham scouts watched the player in action last week against his former club Juventus.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has made it his priority to sign a centre-back next month, especially with Micky van de Ven sidelined with an injury.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can get a deal done for the Romanian international.

The player’s agent has previously admitted interest from Tottenham and he has held early discussions with the north London club regarding a move as well.

The defender will cost around £26 million and Tottenham certainly have the finances to get the deal done.

The Romanian is an immense talent who could develop into a top-class central defender in the Premier League with the right coaching and guidance. He could easily justify the investment in the long run and Spurs must look to secure his services quickly.

Cristian Romero and Van de Ven are the only reliable central defenders at the club right now. Spurs must look to bring in another reliable defender if they want to finish in the top four and compete for trophies.

A move to the Premier League will be a step up in the Romanian defender’s career as well and he will be tempted to compete at the highest level with the north London club.
