Report claims ‘keep an eye out’ for Tottenham who have ‘placed eyes’ on 21-year-old

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the move for the Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori.

A report from Tuttomercatoweb claims that Juventus want to sign the 21-year-old as well, but ‘keep an eye out’ for Spurs who have ‘placed eyes’ on the player.

Calafiori is regarded as one of the finest young defensive prospects in European football right now, and Tottenham do well to secure his signature at the end of the season.

Ange Postecoglou has recently claimed that Spurs want another central defender and their interest in Calafiori is hardly a surprise. The 21-year-old is extremely good in the air, reads the game well and his distribution is top-notch as well.

Calafiori is versatile enough to operate as a central defender as well as a left-back. He could prove to be the ideal squad player for Spurs in the short-term.

There is no doubt that he has the quality to succeed in the Premier League and he will look to establish himself as a key starter for the club in the coming seasons. The 21-year-old is likely to improve with coaching and experience.

Calafiori could be tempted to join Tottenham

A move to Tottenham and will be an excellent opportunity for the Bologna defender and he would get to showcase qualities at a higher level. He would also get to compete against world class players in the Premier League.

Tottenham need more quality options at their disposal if they want to do well across multiple competitions. They have struggled due to injury issues this season and they need a deeper squad next year.

It will be interesting to see if they can beat the competition from clubs like Juventus and sign the Italian defender in the coming weeks. If they can sign him for a reasonable price in the summer, the move could look like a bargain in the long term.
