Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing the Nottingham Forest winger Brennan Johnson.
According to a report from the Athletic, the North London club is ‘monitoring’ the 22-year-old winger’s situation carefully.
However, they are yet to come forward with a concrete proposal to sign the talented young winger.
Apparently, the Welsh international is valued at around £50 million and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham are prepared to pay up for him.
Brentford have reportedly failed with a £35 million offer to sign the player.
Johnson had an impressive campaign with Nottingham last season and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for Tottenham. The North London giants need to add more quality and depth through their attack.
The 22-year-old will chip in with goals and assists from the wide areas.
If Harry Kane leaves the club this summer, Tottenham will have to replace his output adequately. Signing just one striker might not be enough for the Premier League club and they should look to invest in the other areas of their squad as well.
Johnson usually operates as the right-sided winger and he contributed to 10 goals and 3 assists across all competitions last season.
The 22-year-old will only get better with coaching and experience and he could be a key player for Tottenham in the coming seasons.
The Welsh international could compete with Dejan Kulusevski for the starting spot next season.
He is versatile enough to operate as the central attacking midfielder as well and it will be interesting to see if the move to Tottenham goes through.
