Tottenham manager outlines concern he has ‘deep down’ ahead of new season

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been linked with a move away from the club during the summer transfer window.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has now addressed the situation during a press conference with Football London and he has revealed that Kane is a massive figure at the club and he will need to decide on his future.

Postecoglou also added that he doesn’t want to put pressure on the player to sign a new deal and he wants the extension to happen naturally.

It remains to be seen whether Kane is ready to commit his long-term future to Tottenham in the coming weeks. He could leave the club on a free transfer next season and Spurs will not want to be in that situation.

It would make sense for them to sell the player if he does not extend his contract.

Tottenham and Postecoglou will not want the situation surrounding Kane to drag on for much longer. Tottenham will want to sort out his long-term future soon so that the player can concentrate on his football and help his side get back into the Champions League.

“It’s not like his contract is ending on the 12th [of August] and he’s got to make a decision, he’s got another year. So from that part, I am not relaxed but I am not putting pressure on him or anyone else at the football club, saying ‘well we need to do this’. But I don’t think deep down any of us want it to go on for too long.”

Kane is one of the best strikers of his generation and his departure would be a massive blow for any side.

Postecoglou’s comments certainly hint at a deep-down concern the manager harbours about the striker’s future at the club. It will be interesting to see how the situation pans out.

Bayern Munich are hoping to sign the player this summer and it remains to be seen whether they can agree on a deal with the north London club.
