Tottenham man could head towards summer exit after just one season at the club

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence has been put on the transfer list.

The 22-year-old joined Spurs at the start of last season for a fee of around £20 million. However, he has barely had an opportunity to showcase his qualities. Back then, Antonio Conte was the manager of the north London club and the Italian signed him as a long-term prospect.

Spence struggled for regular game time initially but there was a feeling that he could establish himself as a key player for the club in the coming seasons.

Now it seems that he might leave Tottenham without making an impact. A report from London Evening Standard claims that the talented young defender has been placed on the transfer list as Tottenham look to raise funds for their own signings.

Ange Postecoglou is looking to rebuild his side and Tottenham are looking to get rid of some of their fringe players in order to boost their transfer budget.

Spurs already have players like Emerson Royal and Pedro Porro at their disposal. It is hardly a surprise that they are looking to sell their third-choice right-back.

The 22-year-old is undoubtedly a prodigious young talent with a bright future ahead of him and it will be interesting to see where he ends up. Spurs paid around £20 million for him and it remains to be seen whether they can recoup that money this summer.

Spence has previously proven his quality with Nottingham Forest in the Championship and he helped them secure promotion to the Premier League. He will look to get his career back on track with regular football soon and the move away from Tottenham might be ideal for all parties.
