Tottenham make enquiry for 21-year-old defender ahead of summer window

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna and they have already enquired for the young defender.

The 21-year-old defender is highly rated in Italy and he has a big future ahead of himself. He could prove to be a quality long-term investment for the English club and it remains to be seen whether they can get the deal done.

A report from Gazzetta Dello Sport via SportWitness claims that Tottenham have made exploratory contacts for the talented young Italian and he is likely to cost around €25 million this summer.

Tottenham certainly have the financial resources to pay that kind of money for Calafiori and it remains to be seen whether they are ready to make an official approach. Spurs have done well to improve their defensive unit over the last couple of windows, and another defender would only help them improve further.

The reported €25 million asking price seems quite reasonable for a player of Calafiori’s potential and he could easily develop into one of the best defenders in the Premier League with the right guidance.

Juventus are keen on Riccardo Calafiori

Juventus are keen on signing the 21-year-old central defender as well and Tottenham should look to make their move quickly in order to beat the competition.

Tottenham have conceded 54 goals in 34 league games this season. It is evident that the defensive unit needs improving and they must prioritise the signing of a quality central defender in the summer. If they can plug the gaps in their squad during the summer transfer window, there is no reason why they cannot push for major trophies next season.

The 21-year-old central defender will help Spurs tighten up at the back. He can operate as a left-back as well. His versatility will be an added bonus for the North London club, if they can secure his signature
