Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Rayan Cherki this summer.
After an impressive start under the guidance of Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham are now looking at ways to further bolster their squad. Reinforcing the attack is going to be one of their priorities and according to Sports Zone, Spurs have enquired about French sensation Rayan Cherki.
The North London club did well during the 202/24 season to cope with the absence of Harry Kane who had left the club last summer. Despite the quality performances of Son Heung-min and Richarlison, Postecoglou feels they need more firepower and depth in attack if they want to challenge the best teams in Europe.
While signing a world-class striker will be one of their priorities, they are also looking at the Olympique Lyon graduate as a player who can bolster their attack. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder could provide cover for James Maddison and he could even feature on the flanks when needed.
The French youth international who contributed towards 12 goals in the recently concluded season wants to leave Lyon and move to a bigger club. With his contract running out in 12 months, Spurs are considering making a move for him.
They recently knocked on the French club’s door to enquire about the availability of Cherki and the cost of a potential transfer. While Tottenham are quite serious about their pursuit, they are not the only club keen and will have to face stiff competition to land the Lyon attacker.
Premier League rivals Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing the player as well. The Reds have made enquiries for the Frenchman, and it will be interesting to see if they follow up with an official proposal.
Given his contract situation at the French club, it is fair to assume that he could be available for a reasonable price this summer.
