Tottenham initiate contact to sign 22-year-old versatile South American

Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a summer move for AS Monaco’s Brazilian full-back Vanderson.

The North London club are looking to reinforce their squad after a decent season under Ange Postecoglou. The former Celtic manager wants more quality in his ranks and the club hierarchy is ready to back him in the transfer window.

According to Bruno Andrade, Tottenham have their eyes on Vanderson as they look to add more quality to the full-back position. The North London club would like to sign the Brazilian right-back in the summer to bolster their squad.

The 22-year-old defender came up the ranks at Grêmio before making the switch to AS Monaco in the winter of 2022. He has featured in 84 games for the French club and has even contributed towards 15 goals (six goals, nine assists). His impressive rise hasn’t gone unnoticed and multiple top clubs are willing to prise him away from Monaco.

Tottenham are one of the clubs keen on his signature.

Emerson Royal’s future at the North London club has been uncertain for a while now. The former Barcelona full-back hasn’t got enough first-team minutes and is expected to be on the move in the summer. Spurs are looking at Vanderson as an ideal replacement for Emerson. He is attacking in nature and has shown great promise since joining Monaco.

The 22-year-old can not only cover for him but he also has the potential to be an important player for the North London club in the future. They have already established initial contact with the French club as they look to sign the former Gremio graduate. While he still has four years left on his deal, Spurs are ready to try and prise him away in the summer.
