Tottenham make ‘approach’ for 24-year-old, transfer ‘difficult’ due to rivalry with club

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly planning a late move to sign the Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah.

The 24-year-old defender has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in recent weeks and Bayern Munich are reportedly keen on signing him.

However, the German club had not been able to agree on a deal with Chelsea and the player is still on the books at the London club.

Tottenham could certainly use defensive reinforcements and Chalobah could prove to be a quality acquisition.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham are hoping to sign the player on loan until the end of the season but the deal is ‘difficult’ because of the rivalry between the two clubs. The North London outfit have already made an ‘approach’ for the 24-year-old.

It will be interesting to see if they can convince Chelsea to accept a loan move for the defender before the transfer window closes.

Chalobah is versatile enough to operate as the right back as well as a central defender. He could prove to be a useful squad player for Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham need more quality and depth in their squad in order to get back into the Champions League and the Chelsea defender would be a useful option to have.

He will also be an inexpensive option for Tottenham. The move could look like a bargain if he manages to make an immediate impact. Chalobah is well-settled in the Premier League and he will look to hit the ground running if the deal goes through.
