Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a surprise move for the Manchester City midfielder Mateo Kovačić at the end of the season.
The Croatian International could leave the club in the summer, and Tottenham are monitoring his situation.
Journalist Steve Kay has revealed that Tottenham are looking at the Croatian midfielder, and they could look to revamp their midfield in the summer. Tottenham have reportedly enquired about the experienced midfielder, but Manchester City are unwilling to let the player leave.
“They are big wages at City, Walker is gone, Kovacic, I’ve been hearing Spurs are looking at Kovacic, so they’re going to be revamping their midfield. That’s more Spurs enquiring than City wanting to let him go, but we will have to see what happens with that,” Steve Kay said.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can convince Manchester City to sell the player in the summer. Kovacic has been a very useful player for the Premier League champions, and manager Pep Guardiola has labelled him as an “incredible man and player” earlier this season.
Manchester City are lacking in depth in the middle of the park, and the Croatian could be a useful player for them in future as well. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can convince the player to force an exit.
Mateo Kovačić would be an excellent addition

Tottenham have struggled to dominate midfield contests this season, and they need someone who can control the tempo of the game alongside Pape Matar Sarr and Rodrigo Bentancur. Also, players like Yves Bissouma could leave, and Spurs need more depth in the midfield.
The 30-year-old will help them control games better, and his technical ability could prove to be very useful. Apart from his qualities as a player, his winning experience would be an invaluable addition to the Tottenham dressing room. The player has won four Champions League titles, and he has also won La Liga and the Premier League.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can get the deal done.
