Tottenham are all set to knock on the doors of Manchester City for the services of Yan Couto.
The North London club might not have finished inside the top four of the Premier League last season but they did make a lot of progress under Ange Postecoglou.
They are playing an attacking and attractive brand of football. In order to build on their progress from last season, the Australian manager is now keen on reinforcing his squad,
According to The Sun via TBR, Spurs are interested in signing Yan Couto as they look to bolster the right side of their defence.
The Brazilian full-back has spent the last two seasons on loan at Manchester City’s sister club Girona. He has had a sensational rise at the Spanish club and there is no shortage of interest in him.
In the recently concluded season, he was involved in 39 games and ended up contributing towards 12 goals (2 goals, 10 assists).
On the back of his performances, Tottenham are considering pushing for his signature. Spurs are looking to add more quality at right-back, they want someone who can compete with Pedro Porro for a place in the starting XI and consider Couto to be an ideal fit for them.
With Emerson Royal expected to be on the move, the 22-year-old could be a great replacement. While they are interested in signing him, it won’t be easy as he still has two years left on his deal. City value him £40 million and are unlikely to let him leave on the cheap.
The report suggests that the Premier League champions could look to once again send him out on loan rather than on a permanent deal. They are under no pressure to sell with their finances in check. As a result, it will be interesting to see if Spurs can manage to sign Couto ahead of next season.
