Tottenham looking to raid Championship side for highly-rated midfielder

Tottenham are set to raid Championship side Middlesbrough for midfielder Hayden Hackney this summer.

Midfield reinforcement remains a priority for Spurs, with several players linked to the North London club.

Conor Gallagher tops the list, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirming Spurs’ genuine interest in the Chelsea midfielder.

Now, another name has emerged on Spurs’ radar: Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney.

Spurs eyeing Middlesbrough midfielder

According to The Northern Echo, Spurs have been eyeing the 21-year-old for some time, having scouted him on multiple occasions.

The report adds that Tottenham continued to monitor Hackney during the first part of last season and considered a January move, but no deal materialised.

Despite Hackney missing the last three months of the season due to injury, Tottenham’s interest in the midfielder remains.

The England under-21 international is one of Middlesbrough’s rising stars, having already made 69 appearances for the club, scoring five goals and providing six assists. (Transfermarkt)

This season, Hackney has made 28 appearances across all competitions, contributing two goals and two assists.

Hayden Hackney’s versatility

Primarily a defensive midfielder, Hackney’s versatility allows him to play in various midfield roles, including central and attacking midfield positions.

This adaptability is highly valued by Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou, who typically seeks multi-functional players.

Hackney’s ability to perform in multiple positions makes him an attractive option for Spurs as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

With Postecoglou aiming to enhance Tottenham’s midfield, the young Middlesbrough talent could be a key addition to the North London side.
