Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence recently returned to the club from his loan spell at Leeds United.
His loan spell at the Championship club was abruptly terminated amid rumours of indiscipline and a lack of professionalism. According to Football Insider, Tottenham are prepared to sell the player permanently this month.
They paid a fee of around £20 million to sign the player when Antonio Conte was in charge and it is highly unlikely that they will be able to recoup that money for the defender.
He was highly rated during his time in the Championship but he has not been able to live up to the expectations since joining Tottenham.
He failed to hold down a regular starting spot at the north London club he was sent out on loan to Leeds so that he can get his career back on track with regular football.
The report from Football Insider claims that Tottenham do not see him as a part of their long term plants and therefore they are prepared to sell the player this month.
Tottenham are in need of defensive reinforcements and it remains to be seen whether they use the proceeds from his departure to bring in a new defender.
They have been linked with players like Radu Dragusin in recent weeks.
The 23-year-old Tottenham defender is still quite young and he will have plenty of time to get his career back on track and fulfil his potential. However, it does not seem like he will have the opportunity to turn things around at Tottenham.
It will be interesting to see where he ends up this month. He needs to join a club where he will get ample first team opportunities so that he can regain his confidence and sharpness.
