Tottenham looking to raid Bundesliga outfit for €30 million-rated utility man

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing VfB Stuttgart defender Hiroki Ito.

The North London club are looking to add more depth to their backline before the start of next season. Ange Postecoglou’s team have closely monitored Hiroki Ito and according to Bild, Spurs are pushing hard for the VfB Stuttgart defender’s signature.

Ito has been a part of the German club’s squad since making the move from Júbilo Iwata in the summer of 2021. While it was an initial loan deal, the move was made permanent next summer on the back of his impressive performances.

The 25-year-old Japanese international has established himself as an integral part of the German club’s first team and his consistent performances have resulted in a lot of interest. While his contract with Stuttgart runs until 2027, there is a release clause worth €30 million which could provide Spurs a route to acquire his services.

The North London club have closely followed his progress and they feel he could be an ideal fit for them because of his ability to play it out from the back and his pace. He can feature as a left-back as well as a centre-back which will add depth to Ange Postecoglou’s team and give him multiple options to work with.

While Tottenham are chasing his signature, they haven’t made an offer yet as they want to look at other possible options. Meanwhile, Ito wants to play in the Champions League. With Stuttgart having qualified for Europe’s biggest club competition for next season, convincing him to move to London could be difficult.
