Josh Acheampong has been linked with a move away from Chelsea during the summer transfer window.

According to former Premier League scout Mick Brown, the 19-year-old defender could be on his way out of the club due to the lack of gametime. He made just 19 senior appearances last season, and he needs to play more often at this stage of his career.

Spurs and Newcastle linked

“There’s been a bit of talk about Josh Acheampong, which may have come from the agent, suggesting he could be leaving Chelsea.

“I think if offers come in for him, they’re going to be willing to let him go.

“In terms of interest, Newcastle and Tottenham have been mentioned, so let’s see if they make a move.”

The versatile right back is capable of slotting in as the central defender as well. He could prove to be an excellent long-term acquisition for most teams. Brown claims that Tottenham and Newcastle have been mentioned as potential destinations for the young defender. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham come forward with an offer.

They could use more in the defensive unit, and if they can sign the 19-year-old for a reasonable amount of money, it could be a deal worth doing.

The versatile defender could be a very useful player for them in the long term. If they can offer him ample opportunities, he could develop into a key player. Tottenham were looking at him a few months ago as well.

The opportunity to join a club like Tottenham will be exciting for the young defender as well. They are among the biggest clubs in the country, and they will be competing in the UEFA Champions League next season. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Tottenham have shown a willingness to invest in talented young players in recent windows. The 19-year-old defender would be another addition to the formidable pool of young talent already at the club.
