Tottenham will be able to acquire the services of Ivan Toney for £50 million this summer.
The North London club have coped well with the departure of Harry Kane but Ange Postecoglou now feels the need of a world-class striker to help his team take the next season.
Brentford’s Ivan Toney has been on their radar for a while now and according to Pete O’Rourke from Football Insider, Spurs can sign the English international for £50 million.
Heung-min Son and Richarlison have done a decent job while playing as the central strikers this season. But, the Australian manager believes they need a proven goal scorer to challenge the best teams in the Premier League. They need to add more goals to their squad and signing Toney could help their cause.
The Brentford striker hasn’t been in the best of form since returning to football in January following a ban for breaching gambling regulations. He has featured in 15 league games but only has four goals to his name. Despite his poor form, Tottenham are willing to invest in him because of his proven track record in the Premier League.
Arsenal and Chelsea were also keen on his signature but with the duo taking a back seat, Spurs now have a free run to sign the 28-year-old striker. O’Rourke believes a deal will only be done on Spurs’ terms and that £50 million should be enough to get it over the line as it will be a win-win situation for all parties.
The Bees will make a significant profit from his sale having signed him for just £5 million back in 2020.
