Tottenham ‘leading the way’ to sign 22-year-old, ‘willing to invest’ big money

By Saikat -

Manuel Ugarte has been linked with a move away from Sporting CP at the end of the season.

The 22-year-old has been outstanding for the Portuguese club and he has been linked with moves to the Premier League.

According to a report from A Bola, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur are two of the Premier League clubs ‘willing to invest’ big money into the player. Apparently, the two clubs are ‘leading the way’ and it remains to be seen where the 22-year-old ends up.

The Sporting CP defensive midfielder has established himself as a key player for the club, and he was outstanding for them in the european competitions. Ugarte impressed with his performances against Arsenal and Tottenham earlier this season. There is no doubt that the 22-year-old has the ability to succeed in the Premier League as well.

Clubs like Tottenham could certainly use a defensive midfielder like him. The North London side have been vulnerable defensively, and they could use a midfielder who will shield the back four and help them win the ball back in the middle of the park. Ugarte will add work rate and drive to the Tottenham midfield as well.

The 22-year-old has a €60 million release clause and the player has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain as well.

Ugarte is quite young and he is likely to improve with coaching and experience. He has the ability to develop into a top-class player and justify the €60 million price tag in the near future.
