Tottenham leading race to sign 21-year-old who scored against them this season

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing the Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

A report from Daily Mail claims that Manchester United are keen on the player as well and the two clubs could face competition from Chelsea, Arsenal and Real Madrid.

The likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Real Madrid have already made enquiries for the 21-year-old Everton defender but the likes of Tottenham and Manchester United are leading the race to sign him.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can beat the competition from their rivals and get the deal done. They have improved their defensive unit with the signings of Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin this season.

However, they need to add another quality defender to sort out their defensive unit for the foreseeable future. Branthwaite would be a quality acquisition.

The 21-year-old has proven himself to be one of the best young defensive talents in the country, and it is no surprise that the top clubs are keen on him. He has the tools to develop developing into a top class Premier League defender and a move to Tottenham would be an exciting step up for him.

Everton are currently fighting for their survival in the Premier League and Branthwaite certainly deserves to play at a higher level. Tottenham are well placed to secure Champions League qualification for the next season and they could offer him the platform to showcase his abilities in Europe.

The 21-year-old recently impressed against Tottenham defensively and scored an injury time equaliser against the North London club.
