Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the French midfielder Adrien Rabiot in January.

The Frenchman will be a free agent in June and he will be able to negotiate pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs next month. However, it seems Spurs want to sign him in January and therefore they will have to pay a nominal fee.

The Juventus midfielder has been excellent throughout the World Cup and he would be a superb signing for Spurs.

According to Corriere Dello Sport (h/t Sportwitness), PSG, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are all keen on signing Rabiot but Spurs are thought to be the frontrunners in the chase.

The report adds that they will have to pay around €10-15 million for the 27-year-old central midfielder. That seems like a reasonable price to pay for a player of his talents and it remains to be seen whether the Londoners can pull off the move.

Tottenham need to improve their squad in order to finish in the top four this season and the midfield is an area they should look to strengthen. They need to add creativity and composure in the middle of the park and Rabiot would add a different dimension to their playmaking alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur.

The reported asking price should be pocket change for a club with Tottenham’s resources and they should look to move swiftly and secure the services of the World Cup finalist in the coming weeks.

Rabiot is in his peak years right now and he could prove to be a bargain in the long run.
