Multiple Premier League clubs are keen on securing the services of Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk and Tottenham Hotspur are leading the chase for him.

According to a report from CaughtOffside, Tottenham are favourites to sign the central defender for a fee of around £25 million. The likes of Wolves and Brighton are in the race for his signature as well.

Struijk has impressed with his performances in the Championship, and there is no doubt that he has the quality to do well in the Premier League as well. Tottenham need more quality and depth in the defensive unit, and he could prove to be a useful acquisition. He is capable of operating as a central defender, a left back and a defensive midfielder.

The reported asking price seems reasonable for a player of his quality in today’s market, and he should be able to justify the investment in the coming seasons. Tottenham need to improve their squad during the January transfer window if they are serious about pushing for Champions League qualification. They have had a mediocre season so far and they will need to iron out their inconsistencies during the second half of the campaign.

Meanwhile, the defender could be attracted to the idea of joining Tottenham as well. It would be a major step up for him and he would get to compete in the top flight and perform in European competitions. However, his departure would be a major blow for Leeds as they look to secure promotion back to the Premier League. They missed out on promotion last season and losing a key player in January could be a devastating blow.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham follow up on their interest with an offer to sign the player. Leeds are likely to do business for a fee of around £25 million according to the report and Tottenham certainly have the resources to pay up.
