Tottenham keen to sign 23-year-old to replace his compatriot next season

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Alban Lafont from FC Nantes next season.

As per Media Foot, the 23-year-old goalkeeper has popped up on Tottenham’s radar with his performances this season and they are plotting a summer move for him.

Lafont has been quite impressive for the French club and he is being looked at as a potential replacement for Hugo Lloris.

The 36-year-old French international has not been at his best this season and he cost his side with yet another error in the North London Derby against Arsenal. Lloris is clearly past his best and he needs to be replaced as the club’s first-choice keeper.

Spurs have been linked with a number of names in recent weeks and Lafont is the latest player linked with a move to the London club.

A move to Tottenham would be a major step up in the Frenchman’s career and he would get to showcase his abilities at a higher level if he joined them. Furthermore, playing against top players in the Premier League will also help the young keeper improve further.

Lloris could be a useful squad player until his contract expires. He could mentor Lafont next season and help him adapt to English football.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs decide to follow up on their interest with a concrete offer for Lafont now.

The Frenchman is still quite young and he could develop into a key player for Tottenham in the long run. A transfer in the summer could be a solid long-term investment for Spurs.
