Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on midfielder Boris Lum.
The 16-year-old German midfielder is highly rated around Europe and several top clubs are keen on securing his services.
A report from BILD claims that Hertha BSC view him as one of their greatest young talents. The player has a €5 million release clause in his contract and Spurs certainly have the finances to get the deal done.
Apart from the Londoners, clubs like Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Ajax are all monitoring the player’s development.
Hertha coach Pal Dardai has recently heaped praise on the 16-year-old, labelling him as ‘one of the greatest talents of recent years’.
“I haven’t seen a central midfielder like that at Hertha for a long time. He is one of the greatest talents of recent years. It’s a pleasure to watch him play. He is a born footballer.”
He could prove to be a quality long-term investment for Spurs if they can get a deal done. The reported asking price is very reasonable and Lum could justify the investment easily.
A move to the London club will be an attractive option for the player as well. Ange Postecoglou could nurture him into a first-team star for Spurs.
Tottenham must look to make their move quickly in order to beat the European heavyweights to his signature.
Lum is a defensive midfielder, who has the technical attributes to develop into a complete central midfielder. With the right guidance, he could develop into a future star.
Tottenham cannot compete with some of their Premier League rivals financially and they must look to improve the squad sustainably. Signing a prodigious talent for a nominal fee and nurturing him into a star is the right way forward for them.
