Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Jonathan Tah from Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen.
The defender is likely to be available for a bargain this summer and Tottenham should look to sign him in the coming weeks.
According to a report from the German publication BILD, the defender has a clause in his contract which will allow him to leave the club for a fee of around €18 million (£15.5m) this summer but the clause must be triggered at the start of July.
Tottenham need to find your reliable part or for Cristian Romero and the 27-year-old apparently fits the profile. The German ace is a physically imposing central defender with a good reading of the game and he is quite dominant aerially as well.
On paper, he seems like the ideal acquisition for Tottenham. The north London giants have been vulnerable defensively and they need a physically imposing presence like Tah at the heart of their defence. He could form a quality partnership with Romero next season.
The fact that he is available for just €18m makes the transfer a no-brainer. The move could look like a major bargain for Tottenham in the coming seasons.
The German defender is at the peak of his career and he is likely to make an immediate impact in the Premier League. He has all the attributes to succeed in English football and his signing could prove to be a masterstroke for Tottenham.
However, Spurs will not be able to offer him Champions League football and the 27-year-old might fancy his chances of joining a Champions League-level club.
