Tottenham keen on £88m-rated ace they have been tracking for two seasons

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper has been on Tottenham’s radar for a while and a report from Football London claims that the Premier League club have been tracking him for a couple of seasons now.

Apparently, Mamardashvili has a release clause of £88 million in his contract but Valencia are going through financial difficulties and the Spanish club could be open to selling him for a reasonable offer.

The 22-year-old is immensely talented with a big future ahead of him. He has the attributes to develop into a top-class goalkeeper and Tottenham could certainly use someone like him.

Club captain Hugo Lloris is past his peak and the Frenchman will have to be replaced at the end of the season.

Lloris has a contract at Tottenham until the summer of 2024 and he could still be a quality squad option for Antonio Conte. The Frenchman could mentor a young keeper like Mamardashvili until the end of his contract and play in the cup games.

However, Tottenham will need a new goalkeeper who can start every week and the 22-year-old Valencia ace seems like a quality option.

The Valencia goalkeeper is still quite young and he is likely to improve further with coaching and experience.

He could prove to be a quality long-term investment for the Londoners and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham follow up on their interest with a concrete proposal at the end of the season.

The opportunity to join a Premier League club could be a tempting proposition for the young goalkeeper and Tottenham certainly have the resources to tempt Valencia into selling the young shot-stopper.
