Tottenham keen on 24-year-old rival player, transfer would require ‘extraordinary’ offer

By Saikat -

Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has been linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper has struggled for regular game time this year and he needs to leave the club in order to play regular first-team football.

The Irishman is rated highly at the Merseyside club and he has proven his tremendous quality in the cup games.

Kelleher will be hoping to establish himself as a first-choice shot-stopper at a Premier League club, and Liverpool certainly cannot provide him with that opportunity. The 24-year-old is unlikely to get opportunities ahead of Alisson Becker next season, and therefore it makes sense for him to leave the club.

According to a report from the Athletic, the player is keen on leaving Liverpool in order to become the first-choice goalkeeper at another club. However, Liverpool view him as an important member of the first team, and they would only sanction his departure in the event of an “extraordinary” offer.

The report further states that clubs like Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the player this summer.

The North London giants will have to bring in a quality long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris. The Liverpool goalkeeper could prove to be a quality acquisition.

Kelleher has certainly shown that he is good enough to play for a top Premier League club and he would be the ideal replacement for the Tottenham legend.

Lloris is past his peak and he has been quite error-prone this season. Spurs must look to replace him during the summer transfer window and it remains to be seen whether they can convince Liverpool to sell the 24-year-old.
