Belgian international Lois Openda finds himself on the Tottenham shortlist on the back of an impressive season with RB Leipzig.
Ange Postecoglou might have done a decent job in his first season in charge of the North London club but he is now looking to execute a major rebuild in the summer and signing a top-quality forward is at the centre of it.
Spurs have been linked with numerous top strikers but according to a report from GiveMeSport, they are keen on signing Bundesliga star Lois Openda.
The Belgian international made the move to RB Leipzig last summer from French outfit RC Lens. He has since featured in 45 matches for the German club and has contributed towards 35 goals (28 goals, 7 assists). Openda’s impressive performances have put him on the radar of top clubs and there could be a bidding war for him in the summer.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have done well to cope with the absence of their record goal scorer Harry Kane during the 2023/24 season. Son Heung-min and Richarlison have put in impressive shifts up top when needed but Postecoglou feels a top-quality striker could help them take the next step and Openda is one of the names on their shortlist.
He will add goals to their squad and add more cutting edge going forward. His arrival will allow the Australian manager to use Son and Richarlison in their natural roles.
Since he is only 24, the Belgian could be a great signing in the short as well as the long term. But, the North London club won’t find it easy to prise him away from Leipzig given the amount of interest in him and the fact that his contract there runs until the summer of 2028.
