Tottenham join two other PL clubs in the race to sign 27-yr-old UCL winner

Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with a move for the Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio.

The 27-year-old was a part of the Real Madrid squad that won the Champions League and the Spanish league title last season.

However, he is not a key starter for Carlo Ancelotti and he needs to leave the club in order to play regularly.

The midfielder will be out of contract in the coming months and Tottenham will be able to snap him up on a free transfer.

However, the Londoners are not the only Premier League club keen on signing him and they will have to face competition from Arsenal and Manchester United as per Football Insider. The two Premier League clubs are well-placed to secure Champions League qualification and Tottenham will have to finish in the top four as well if they want to secure the 27-year-old’s services.

Asensio will want to compete at the highest level and he is unlikely to join a club without Champions League football.

Antonio Conte needs a creative presence like the Spanish international and he would be a superb acquisition on a free transfer. The likes of Harry Kane will certainly benefit from his creativity and passing in the final third.

Tottenham are unlikely to be able to compete with the European elite when it comes to financial resources and therefore they must do everything in their power to secure bargain signings like Asensio when the opportunity comes along.

The Spaniard can operate in a number of positions and his versatility could make him an indispensable asset for Conte next season.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen whether the Italian manager is open to staying at Tottenham beyond this season. His departure could have a big impact when it comes to attracting top talents to the London club next season.
