Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly joined the race to sign the Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz.
The 25-year-old Brazilian midfielder has done reasonably well for the West Midlands club and his performances have attracted the attention of Tottenham.
A report from Football Insider claims that Spurs are not the only London club keen on signing him and they will face competition from Arsenal as well.
Apparently, the Gunners have been following the Brazilian midfield for over a year.
Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with a move away from the club and they will need to bring in a quality replacement for the Denmark international.
Luiz certainly has the potential to replace him and he could be a key player for Tottenham in the upcoming season. The opportunity to play for them will be a tempting option for the midfielder as well.
It remains to be seen whether Spurs or Arsenal decide to follow up on their interest with a concrete proposal in the coming weeks.
Arsenal midfielders Thomas Partey and Jorginho have been linked with moves away from the club and the Gunners will have to bring in quality replacements if they end up leaving.
Arsenal have already signed Declan Rice from West Ham and they could use more depth in the central midfield.
Meanwhile, the report from Football Insider claims that Aston Villa are preparing a move for the Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams and that could open up the opportunity for Luiz to leave the club this summer.
It will be interesting to see where the 25-year-old ends up eventually.
