Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the French central defender Bastien Meupiyou.
A report from RMC Sport claims that Tottenham are interested in the talented young defender, who impressed during the under-17 World Cup. They will face competition from Premier League rivals Manchester City as well.
The 17-year-old defender is highly rated across Europe and a number of European clubs are keen on securing his signature. The defender was a target for French club Lens this month but he will continue at Nantes despite an offer from the French outfit.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham follow up on their interest with a concrete proposal to sign the talented young defender at the end of the season.
Meupiyou certainly has the potential to develop into a key for the north London club with the right coaching and guidance. He could excel in the Premier League in the coming seasons.
If Tottenham manage to secure his services in the coming months, it could prove to be a superb future investment for them.
The north London outfit will need to sign talented young players with immense potential in order to put together a formidable unit for the future. They do not have the financial resources to sign the best players in the world and therefore they will have to grow the squad sustainably.
Signing talented young players like Meupiyou would be a step in the right direction.
