Tottenham ‘interest’ confirmed in €100m Brazilian, super agent ‘personally’ involved

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Benfica defender Morato.

A report from Calciomercato has confirmed the ‘interest’ from the north London club in the Brazilian defender and they have reportedly scouted him on more than one occasion.

The defender has a release clause of around €100 million in his contract but Benfica could look to sanction his departure for a fee of around €30 million. The report further states that super agent Kia Joorabchian is ‘personally’ involved in the move.

Spurs need to sign a central defender and the 22-year-old could be a solid, long-term investment. He has impressed with his performance in the Portuguese league and he could help Tottenham improve defensively.

Micky van de Ven is currently sidelined with an injury and Eric Dier has been linked with a January exit. Signing a central defender is the need of the hour and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can get the deal done.

The 22-year-old Brazilian will be tempted to join a big club like Spurs and he will look to showcase qualities in the Premier League. Regular football in England could accelerate his development and help him fulfil his tremendous potential.

The reported €30 million fee could look like a major bargain if the Brazilian manages to hit the ground running in the Premier League and fulfil his potential with the London club.

Tottenham will hope to secure Champions League qualification and they must tighten up at the back in order to finish the season strongly.
