Tottenham intensifying efforts to sign 19-yr-old, club scouts feel he could be a future star

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Blackburn midfielder Adam Wharton.

According to a report from Football Insider, the North London club are now intensifying their pursuit of the 19-year-old and their scouts have watched the player in action regularly.

Tottenham staff feel that the 19-year-old midfielder could develop into a potential star and remains to be seen whether they can win the race for his signature. They will have to compete with Premier League rivals Everton and Crystal Palace who are keen on signing the youngster as well.

The midfielder has a contract with Blackburn Rovers until the summer of 2028 and he is unlikely to be a cheap acquisition. Blackburn will look to demand a premium for their top asset.

The talented young central midfielder can operate as a box-to-box midfielder as well as a defensive midfielder. He has the tools to develop into a complete midfielder with the right coaching and guidance.

A move to the Premier League will be an attractive proposition for him and he will want to continue his development with the north London club.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with the move away from the club and Wharton could be the ideal long-term replacement. Tottenham certainly have the financial muscle to get the deal done and they should be able to beat the likes of Everton and Palace to his signature.

It remains to be seen whether they follow up on their interest with the concrete proposal for the player before the January window closes.
