Tottenham Hotspur have intensified their pursuit of the Portuguese winger Jota.
A report from the Times claims that Tottenham are looking to sign the player on loan from the Saudi Pro League.
Apparently, the winger is ineligible to play for Al-Ittihad and therefore the Saudi outfit are prepared to loan him out. Apparently, the Saudi Pro League allows clubs to have eight foreign players but Al-Ittihad have exceeded that limit and Jota is now surplus to requirements.
The report from the Times claims that Ange Postecoglou wants a reunion with the 24-year-old forward and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can get the deal done.
The Saudi outfit paid £25 million to sign him from Celtic at the start of the season.
Jota has played under Postecoglou for a couple of seasons and he picked up 28 goals and 26 assists across all competitions. There is no doubt that he would add goals and creativity to the Tottenham attack. The likes of Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic are currently sidelined with injuries and Tottenham need to add more quality and depth to their attack.
The 24-year-old knows Postecoglou’s system well and he should be able to fit in quickly and make an immediate impact. The opportunity to play for a big Premier League club will be an attractive proposition for Jota as well.
It will be an exciting step up in his career and the player will hope that the two clubs can come to an agreement soon.
Tottenham have lost three Premier League games in a row and they will need to bounce back quickly. They will want to secure Champions League qualification this season and they need the right additions in January.
Signing a quality attacker like Jota could prove to be a wise decision he could be a key player for them during the second half of the campaign.
