Tottenham in ‘very advanced negotiations’ to sign Chelsea target for €45 million plus bonuses

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign the Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez in January.

A report from Todofichajes claims that Tottenham are in ‘very advanced negotiations’ with the Dutch club to secure his signature.

The player is a target for clubs like Chelsea as well but Tottenham are now in pole position to secure the transfer for a fee of around €45 million plus bonuses.

The talented striker has 20 goals across all competitions this season and he should prove to be an exceptional addition to the Tottenham attack. He could prove to be the ideal long-term replacement for Harry Kane if he can adapt to the Premier League and hit the ground running.

The Mexican striker helped his club win the league title last season and he will look to take the next step in his development and join a big club now.

The opportunity to showcase his qualities in the Premier League will be an exciting option for him.

Tottenham are chasing Champions League qualification and they need to improve their squad in January. Signing a top-class striker could prove to be a wise decision.

They are yet to replace Harry Kane properly and Gimenez could be the ideal alternative. He could share the goalscoring burden with Son Heung-min and improve Tottenham going forward.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are struggling to score goals as well and they need to bring in a reliable finisher. They signed Nicolas Jackson at the start of the season, but the former La Liga striker has been quite underwhelming.

The 22-year-old Mexican would have been a quality acquisition for them and it remains to be seen whether they can swoop in and hijack Tottenham’s move for the player.
