Tottenham ‘in pole position’ to sign 22-year-old forward, star will cost £87 million

By Saikat -

Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks.

The 22-year-old Mexican international has been in fine form for the Dutch outfit and he helped them win the league title last season. Gimenez managed to score 23 goals across all competitions for them last year and he has started the current campaign in red-hot form as well.

The Mexican has found the back of the net 15 times in his 11 appearances this season. It is no surprise that the top Premier League clubs are keen on signing him.

A report from 90 Min claims that the striker will cost around £87 million and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham are prepared to pay that kind of money for him.

Spurs are not the only English club keen on the striker and they will face competition from Arsenal and Chelsea as well. Meanwhile, Spanish giants Real Madrid are interested in the player as well.

According to a report via TuttoMercatoWeb, Real Madrid and Tottenham are currently ‘in pole position’ to sign the player.

Tottenham could certainly use a quality striker like him to replace Harry Kane and Gimenez will be attracted to the idea of playing in the Premier League.

The North London outfit sold Kane earlier this summer for a substantial amount of money and they should have the finances to sign the 22-year-old Mexican. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few weeks and whether Tottenham decide to come forward with an official proposal to sign the player in January.
