Tottenham Hotspur want to sign a quality striker at the end of the season and they have identified Santiago Gimenez as a priority target.
According to journalist Graeme Bailey from HITC, the Mexican striker is a top target for the north London club and it will be interesting to see if they can get the deal done. Clubs like Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Napoli keeping tabs on his situation as well.
The Feyenoord striker is reportedly valued at £42 million. He has 26 goals in all competitions this season and he could prove to be a superb acquisition for Tottenham.
The London club are yet to bring in a quality long-term replacement for Harry Kane. The England international left Tottenham at the start of the season and they will have to replace him adequately. They have missed a clinical presence in front of the goal this season and Gimenez could solve that problem for them.
The £42 million asking price seems reasonable for a player of his quality and the Mexican could justify the investment in the coming seasons. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can beat the competition from the other European clubs and sign the striker this summer.
They will not be able to offer him Champions League football for the next season and that might be a problem when it comes to convincing top quality players. However, they have an exciting project and talented squad. They could be an attractive destination for the young striker.
Gimenez will want to test himself at the highest level and a move to the Premier League will be an exciting opportunity for him.
