Tottenham identify 17-goal South American as the ‘solution to their offensive problems’

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Argentine striker Mauro Icardi.

The 30-year-old has been outstanding since his move to Turkish club Galatasaray and he has 17 goals and six assists to his name across all competitions this season.

The South American forward has reinvented himself in Turkey and his performances have caught the attention of Tottenham and Manchester United. It is no secret that Tottenham need to bring in attacking reinforcements and signing a quality finisher Icardi could prove to be a wise decision.

Although the Argentine international is 30, he could still be a very useful option in the attack for Tottenham in the coming seasons. The opportunity to move to the Premier League could be a tempting proposition for the player as well.

He has played in multiple leagues with top clubs and he will want to showcase his qualities in England as well.

A report from Fichajes claims that Tottenham have identified him as a ‘solution to their offensive problems’. It remains to be seen whether they can beat the likes of Manchester United and secure his signature.

Icardi is at the peak of his powers and he will want to hit the ground running in the Premier League. He could be the ideal replacement for Harry Kane in the short term.

South Korean international Son Heung-min has carried the goalscoring burden after the departure of Kane, but Son will be away on international duty during the AFC Asian Cup and Tottenham need a reliable goalscorer in his absence. Icardi could be the ideal option for Ange Postecoglou in the attack.
