Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the Netherlands International defender Nathan Ake from Manchester City during the summer transfer window.

According to GMS, they have held talks with Manchester City regarding a move for the 30-year-old defender. It will be interesting to see if they are willing to come forward with an official offer to get the deal done.

Spurs could use Man City star Ake

They need more quality and depth in the defensive unit, and the Netherlands International could be the ideal acquisition. He has been a very useful player for Manchester City since joining the club. He is capable of operating as a central defender as well as a full back. He will help them tighten up at the back, and his ability to slot into multiple roles will be a huge bonus during rotation and injuries.

The player currently earns £160,000 at Manchester City, and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham can afford him. They have a strict wage structure in place, and Daniel Levy will not want to break that. The defender might have to accept more modest wages to move to Tottenham. In addition to that, it will be interesting to see if Manchester City are willing to sell a valuable player like him. They are in multiple competitions, and they will want to do well this season. Players like Ake could prove to be very useful for them. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.

The defender is highly rated by Pep Guardiola, who has labelled him as an ‘exceptional’ player in the past. It will be quite surprising if Manchester City allows him to leave the club this summer.
