Maximiliano Araujo is expected to be on the move at the end of the season, and Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to sign him.

The player will cost €80 million, and it will be interesting to see whether Tottenham is willing to pay that much for a left-back. The 26-year-old has had an impressive season with Sporting CP.

According to a report via SportWitness, Tottenham has already held ‘exploratory talks’ to sign the player.

Spurs could use Maxi Araujo

Tottenham could use more quality in the left-back department, and Araujo would be an excellent addition. He is at the peak of his career, and he could make an immediate impact in the Premier League. The opportunity to play in England will be exciting for the player as well. It would be a step up for him, and he would get to test himself against top-class players in the Premier League.

The asking price is quite high for a left back, and Tottenham will hope to sign him for a more reasonable deal. Multiple clubs are keeping tabs on his situation, and the Portuguese outfit will be hoping for an auction in the summer so that they can recoup as much as possible from his departure.

Spurs looking at multiple options along with Araujo

Tottenham have also been linked to players like Andrew Robertson in recent weeks. The Scottish international will be a free agent soon, and he could prove to be a bargain acquisition. It remains to be seen who they end up signing eventually.

Araujo has 12 goal contributions in all competitions. He can prove to be a solid addition defensively, and he could add a new dimension to the Tottenham team going forward.

The defender will be hoping to sort out his future quickly. He will look to join a club where he can compete at a high-level and fight for trophies. Chelsea and Manchester United are keen on him as well.
