It remains to be seen whether Aston Villa are prepared to sanction his departure in the coming weeks. Villa have secured European football for the next season and they will want to hold on to their best players and do well in Europe.
Unai Emery will not want to weaken his side this summer. Aston Villa are already lacking in depth when it comes to the attacking department and the departure of Watkins would weaken the side severely.
If Spurs managed to secure his services, it could prove to be a quality signing for them. The 27-year-old is already well-settled in the Premier League and he could make an immediate impact at the north London club.
