Tottenham have ‘strong interest’ in signing 25-year-old Premier League utility man

By Saikat -

Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly continues to be linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season.

A report from Milan Live claims that Tottenham have a ‘strong interest’ in the player and they will face competition from the likes of Liverpool.

The 25-year-old defender will be a free agent in the summer and he is expected to move on to a bigger club. He is unlikely to sign a contract extension with the Cherries and it remains to be seen where he ends up.

Tottenham could certainly use a versatile defender like him who is capable of operating as a central defender as well as a left-back. He will add defensive quality and depth to the side. His ability to slot into multiple roles would make him a very useful squad member.

In addition to that, signing a player of his quality on a free transfer would be a major coup. He is well settled in the Premier League and he could make an instant impact at Tottenham.

Tottenham have already improved their defensive unit with the signings of Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin this season. Signing Kelly could complete the defensive unit for the foreseeable future.

Tottenham are well placed to secure Champions League qualification for the next season and the 25-year-old defender will certainly be tempted to play for them. It would be a major step up for him and he would get to compete at a high level.
