Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa at the end of the season.
The 27-year-old has been one of the best strikers in the league this season and he could prove to be a quality signing for the London club. A report from Fichajes claims that Spurs have shown ‘some interest’ in the €32 million rated striker.
Spurs need to add more goals to their side and Watkins has proven his pedigree in the Premier League. The Aston Villa striker has 16 goals and six assists to his name this season and he is certainly good enough to play for a better team.
Although Spurs haven’t finished above Aston Villa this season, they have a better squad at their disposal and they are more likely to challenge for trophies in the coming seasons. The opportunity to play for them could be an exciting option for the player.
However, it is difficult to see the West Midlands club sanctioning his departure. He is a key player for them and Aston Villa have been heavily reliant on him for goals. His departure would weaken them severely.
Meanwhile, Spurs need attackers this summer. Harry Kane has been carrying the goalscoring burden all by himself and the Londoners need to add more depth to their side if they want to do well next season.
Watkins is more than just a goalscorer and his hold up play would add a new dimension to the Tottenham attack next season. The striker is in his prime and he could make an immediate impact at Spurs.
