Tottenham have ‘more interest’ in signing 30-yr-old World Cup winner than their PL rivals

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are one of the three Premier League clubs looking to sign Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa at the end of the season.

It is no secret that Tottenham will have to bring in a quality alternative to Hugo Lloris who has been on the decline this season. The 36-year-old Frenchman has been a shadow of his former self and he will need to be replaced as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.

According to TYC Sports journalist Gaston Edul, Tottenham are looking to bring in Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, who has excelled since his move to the West Midlands club.

The former Arsenal goalkeeper has established himself as one of the best shot-stoppers in the Premier League since his move to Aston Villa and he was outstanding for his country in the recently concluded World Cup.

Martinez’s heroics allowed Argentina to win the World Cup in Qatar and he will be hoping to take the next step in his club career.

The 30-year-old deserves to play for a bigger club and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham are prepared to provide him with an exit route.

Apparently, Manchester United and Chelsea are keen on signing the player as well but Gaston Edul has confirmed that Tottenham have ‘more interest’ compared to the other two clubs.

All three clubs need to bring in a quality goalkeeper this summer. Chelsea will have to bring him and upgrade on Édouard Mendy and Manchester United have suffered because of David De Gea’s erratic performances.

It remains to be seen where Martínez ends up this summer.
