Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing the Club America defender Sebastian Caceres.
The 24-year-old international has attracted the attention of the North London club with his performances and a report from Tuttomercatoweb claims that the player’s agent has had discussions with the Premier League club.
The report adds that Club America are considering his future at the club and they could cash in for a fee of around €10 million (£8.6m). Tottenham certainly have the financial muscle to pay that kind of money for the defender and it remains to be seen whether they can get the deal done.
Clubs like Napoli, Sevilla and Torino are keen on the defender as well. The South American is likely to be attracted to the idea of playing for Tottenham. It would be a major step in his career and he would get to showcase his qualities in the Premier League.
The 24-year-old is versatile enough to operate as a central defender as well as a full-back. He could prove to be an asset for Ange Postecoglou in the long run.
Tottenham signed Micky van de Ven during the summer transfer window and the 22-year-old has established himself as an indispensable asset for the North London club. However, he is sidelined with an injury right now and Tottenham need more depth at the back.
Signing a central defender in January should be a top priority for Tottenham and Caceres certainly fits the profile. He is available for a reasonable price and the transfer could look like a bargain in the coming seasons.
