Tottenham have ‘concrete interest’ in 21-goal star, approach made through an intermediary

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Argentine international striker Lautaro Martinez.

The 25-year-old helped his country win the World Cup back in December and he has been a key player for Inter Milan.

Martinez has 21 goals and eight assists to his name across all competitions, and it is hardly a surprise that the top Premier League clubs are keen on him.

A report from Gazzetta Dello Sport claims that Tottenham are not the only English club looking to sign the player, and there is interest from Manchester United as well.

Apparently, an intermediary has informed the Italian club of the ‘concrete interest’ from Tottenham and Manchester United in the player. However, Inter Milan are not keen on selling him anytime soon and they are unwilling to negotiate.

Tottenham need to add more quality and depth to their attack. Harry Kane is the only reliable goalscorer at the club and they need someone who can share the goal-scoring burden with the England international. Furthermore, Kane has been linked to the move away from Tottenham at the end of the season. If he decides to move on, Tottenham will have to bring him a top-class alternative.

Martinez has proven his quality for club and country and he would be a superb acquisition.

The 25-year-old is more than just a goalscorer and his playmaking ability will add a new dimension to the Tottenham attack.

However, Tottenham are quite likely to miss out on Champions League football and they might struggle to attract players of his quality without a top-four finish.
