Tottenham tracking 21-year-old since last season, £75m would get deal done

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

A report from TeamTalk claims that Tottenham have been tracking the 21-year-old central defender since last season when he was on loan at PSV Eindhoven.

The talented young defender has done quite well for Everton in the Premier League this season and naturally top clubs are keen on securing his signature. Along with Tottenham, Manchester United are keen on the player as well. However, he is unlikely to be a cheap acquisition, and Everton will demand a premium for him.

The 21-year-old is highly rated in English football and he has a big future ahead of him. He has the attributes to develop into a top-class Premier League defender. Everton could demand a fee of around £75 million for the young defender.

Tottenham need to sign a central defender, especially if Eric Dier moves on in the coming weeks. Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are the only reliable central defenders at the club right now.

There is no doubt that Branthwaite would be a quality, long-term investment for them. The North London club could help the 21-year-old develop further and fulfil his tremendous potential.

A move to Tottenham would be a major step up in the player’s career as well, especially if they manage to secure Champions League qualification this season. Everton are currently fighting the relegation battle and Branthwaite may be tempted to join a big club with more ambition.
