Tottenham handed boost in their pursuit of world-class €100m-rated playmaker

By Saikat -

Tottenham have reportedly sent an offer to sign the Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong in the region of €60 million.

However, a report from the Spanish publication SPORT claims that Barcelona do not have any plans to let the Dutch international leave the club at the end of the season.

The same report cites Lluis Canut, a TV3 journalist, who is well-connected with the midfielder’s entourage. They state that the player is disappointed with the current reality of the club and he would be willing to leave for a club capable of winning major trophies.

Meanwhile, a report via Mundo Deportivo (h/t SportWitness) claims the player would cost around €100 million.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can convince the midfielder to join them at the end of the season. The fact that he’s willing to consider an exit will certainly come as a major boost for the North London club.

The 26-year-old is a world-class midfielder and he could transform Tottenham. He will add craft, drive and flair to the Tottenham midfield. The Dutch international could form a quality partnership alongside the likes of Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr.

Signing a player like him would add greater control to the Tottenham midfield and they will be able to dominate midfield contests.

De Jong has been linked with the move to the Premier League in the past as well. Manchester United tried to sign him 2022, but they failed with their approach.

The 26-year-old is entering his peak and signing him would be a major coup for Tottenham. It remains to be seen whether they can convince the Spanish club and the player at the end of the season. It is evident that the North London club are on the up and they have impressed with their performances under Ange Postecoglou.

If they can return to the Champions League, they could prove to be an interesting option for the player.
