Tottenham ‘first to position themselves’ for La Liga playmaker, ‘willing’ to sign him in summer

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Real Madrid attacking midfielder Arda Guler.

A report from Spanish publication SPORT claims that Tottenham are ‘first to position themselves’ in the race for the 18-year-old’s signature and they will face competition from Bayer Leverkusen. Other European clubs are keeping tabs on his situation as well.

Guler has struggled for regular game time at Real Madrid since his return from injury. Naturally, there have been speculations surrounding his future at the Spanish club. Tottenham are ‘willing’ to sign him at the end of the season and it remains to be seen whether Los Blancos are prepared to let him leave.

Guler needs regular football to continue his development and fulfil his tremendous potential. If Real Madrid cannot provide him with that platform, they should look to let him leave on loan or a permanent basis.

The report from SPORT claims that the La Liga giants are prepared to cash in on the player if he pushes for a move away from the club.

It will be interesting to see how the situation develops. There was excitement surrounding the Turkish talent when he joined the club. Letting him leave without fulfilling his potential would be a blow for the Spanish outfit. In addition to that, the player might want to make his mark at Santiago Bernabeu before leaving the club.

With that said, whoever signs him will have a top-class prospect on their hands.

Tottenham could use his creativity, technical ability and flair in the final third. The 18-year-old can operate as the number ten as well as the right-sided winger. He will help Spurs open up deep defences with his flair, vision, key passing, link-up play and runs into channels.

He has the tools to develop into a world-class player with the right guidance. Tottenham would do well to secure his services in the summer.
