Tottenham eyeing summer move for £60m-rated Premier League attacker

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin.

According to a report from Sunday People (h/t HITC), the north London giants have been monitoring the French winger’s progress for some time and a summer move could be on the cards.

Apparently, the winger is valued at £60 million and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham are prepared to shell out that kind of money for the 25-year-old.

Saint-Maximin has had an underwhelming season at Newcastle so far and he has not been able to perform at a high level consistently.

The Frenchman has proven himself to be a match-winner since his move to Newcastle but he will have to iron out his inconsistency issues if he wants to play for a big club.

Tottenham could certainly use his pace and flair in the final third and he will help the London club open up deep defences. Players like Harry Kane will certainly benefit from having someone like him create opportunities from the attacking areas.

However, Newcastle are under no pressure to sell the player.

The Magpies are one of the richest clubs in the world. It will be difficult for Tottenham to convince them to sell the player unless Newcastle are looking to bring in an upgrade and are prepared to sell the fan favourite.

Newcastle are already lacking in depth when it comes to the wide areas and it would be quite surprising if Eddie Howe decided to weaken his attack any further.
